PhoenixMUD is a free classic DikuMUD, online since 1996. 20,685 rooms across 276 zones, 16 classes and 15 races, and 400+ levels of progression: 1-100 to Hero, then three full remort climbs.
Our official Mudlet package installs itself on connect: GMCP vitals and effects panes, channel routing into chat windows, and an embedded mapper preloaded with the whole world. The browser client adds a World Atlas: a live map with fog-of-war and route-finding.
No payment of any kind, and character creation is open. Actively developed, with a friendly community that makes room for newcomers. New players welcome.
